Ken Horan

Head of ESA Phi-Lab Ireland

Dr. Ken Horan has more than 20 years' experience in research and product development, as a practitioner, leader and mentor. He has held roles as a start-up CTO, Director of high TRL research in Robotics and Automation, has overseen multiple multi-million-euro programs, and has mentored and worked with dozens of companies from start-ups to multinationals on product and process. During his career he has been responsible for all aspects of technology innovation strategy, from road mapping and delivery to IP management & exploitation. He is currently the Director of Technology Innovation & Entrepreneurship in IMR.

Robert Conway-Kenny

ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Manager

Dr. Robert (Rob) Conway-Kenny is an innovation specialist with expertise in space technology, research project management, and strategic outreach. As the ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Manager based at IMR, he leads collaborative initiatives at the forefront of space research and technology development. Robert's experience includes a Fulbright Commission Ireland Award to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, and several initiatives with the European Space Agency. Robert is passionate about science and space outreach, community engagement, and creating meaningful impact through technology and industry collaboration. At IMR, Rob is also a Senior Programme Manager for Space Ventures.

Ramesh Raghavendra

ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Project Manager

Dr. Ramesh Raghavendra holds a Ph.D. from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and his research background includes the areas of functional ceramics, glass and glass-ceramics, sintering of powder materials and more recently metal additive manufacturing (AM). Ramesh is a Principal Investigator on numerous AM related industrial projects, and is also a funded Investigator in Taighde Éireann Research Ireland's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre I-Form. Ramesh is the Director of the South Eastern Applied Materials (SEAM) Centre as South East Technological University.

John Enright

ESA Phi-Lab Ireland Technical Lead

​Mr. John Enright is the Director of Manufacturing Technologies within IMR, where he works with Irish industry to investigate and validate the adoption of new and advanced manufacturing technologies and associated design tools. He has over 25+ years in the ICT industry across multiple engineering and R&D management roles. John holds a BSc. in Production Engineering and an MSc. in Technology Management.

Colin Meade

​Mr. Colin Meade (B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering) is an Industrial Researcher in Additive Manufacturing at IMR. Colin has extensive experience in concept generation and refinement, prototyping, CAD and design for additive manufacturing; Colin is currently exploring the potential for adoption and integration of additive manufacturing technology into Irish industry. Colin is the Technical Mentor for projects currently incubated at ESA Phi-Lab Ireland.

Eoghan O'Donoghue

​Mr. Eoghan O’Donoghue, BEng, MEng, has worked in multiple industries including electronics, design, injection moulding, aeronautics, stress analysis and additive manufacturing. His research background is in the areas of FEA, electronics reliability and additive manufacturing. He has over twenty years’ experience in a broad range of analysis techniques including CT, mechanical testing, SEM, EDX, DSC, TGA, FTiR, XRF, EBSD, CMM and many others. At SEAM, Eoghan is the Gateway Operations Manager, responsible for managing industrial research projects.

Carlos Pando

​Mr. Carlos García Pando, BEng, MSc TechInnovation, is an engineering and technology leader with more than 20 years of experience in additive manufacturing and 3D printing, supported by a broader career spanning engineering, quality, R&D, operations, and business development. He has led advanced manufacturing initiatives from concept development and design optimisation through process improvement, industrial deployment, technology transfer, funding capture, partnership building, and training. At SEAM, Carlos is the Additive Manufacturing Team Leader.
